Very good post, i am currently on the path to receive my a+ certification. What Carlos stated is true, most companies want to see some sort of understanding of computer systems. A+ certification does exactly that, shows your understanding.

Working in the information industry i can be the first to say that this posting holds truth. Before, i mean years back the industry was not that concerned with certifications. Present day this is how they can justify giving you a paycheck. Also with this certification it is simple but also very powerful and can open many doors if you are getting into the industry.
